from Ibn 'Abbas: His saying: "Or the entrails [al-hawaya]," it is the rectum [al-mab'ar]. Similar was narrated from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, Abu Salih, Mujahid, Muqatil ibn Hayyan, al-Suddi, Qatadah, and 'Ata' al-Khurasani.

The second aspect:

8038 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj told us, Abu Usamah told us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak: "Or the entrails," he said: "The rectums [al-maba'ir] and the holding places [al-marabid]."

8039 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh told us, Ibn Zayd told us, regarding His saying: "Or the entrails," he said: "The entrails are the holding places [al-marabid] where the intestines are; they are in their center. They are the 'banat al-laban' [small intestines], and in the language of the Arabs, they are called the 'marabid.'"

The third aspect:

8040 - Abu al-Azhar Ahmad ibn al-Azhar al-Naysaburi informed us in what he wrote to me, Wahb ibn Jarir told us, my father told us, from 'Ali ibn al-Hakam, from al-Dahhak: "As for His saying: 'Or the entrails,' they are the bellies [al-butun] other than the omentum [thurub]."

It was narrated from Muqatil ibn Hayyan similar to that, but 'Ubayd ibn Salman disagreed with him regarding al-Dahhak, saying: "He means by the 'thurub': other than the bellies."

His saying: "Or what is mixed with a bone."

8041 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj told us, Abu Mu'awiyah told us, from Ibn Abi Khalid, from Abu Salih: "Or what is mixed with a bone," he said: "The fat." Similar was narrated from al-Suddi, and he said: "Whatever was of fat upon a bone." Similar was narrated from Muqatil ibn Hayyan.

8042 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Muhammad ibn al-'Ala' told us, Abu Khalid told us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak: "Or what is mixed with a bone," he said: "What is stuck to the bone."

His saying, the Almighty: "That is how We recompensed them."

[8043] Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' told us, Sa'id told us, from Qatadah: His saying: "That is how We recompensed them for their insolence [baghyihim]," it was only forbidden to them as a punishment for their insolence."
