His saying: "And if it is dead"

7939 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd informed us, in what he wrote to me: My father told me, my uncle told me, from his father, from 'Atiyyah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And if it is dead, they are all partners in it"—he said: When a sheep gave birth to a male, they would slaughter it, so it was for the men to the exclusion of the women. And if it was a female, it was left and not slaughtered. And if it was dead, they were all partners in it; so Allah forbade them from that.

7942 - My father told us, Abu Bakr ibn Bashshar al-'Abdi told us, Yahya ibn Sa'id told us, from Sufyan, from al-A'mash, from Abu Razin, regarding his saying: "Losers are those who killed their children"—he said: They were misguided before that.

His saying, the Almighty: "Killed their children foolishly without knowledge"

7943 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, al-'Abbas informed us, Ibn Zuray' told us, Sa'id informed us, from Qatadah: Regarding his saying: "Losers are those who killed their children foolishly without knowledge"—this was the deed of the people of Jahiliyyah; one of them would kill his daughter out of fear of shame and poverty, while feeding his dog.

His saying: "And have forbidden what Allah has provided for them"

7944 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim informed us, in what he wrote to me: Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal told us, Asbat informed us, from al-Suddi, who said: Then He mentioned what they did with their wealth and children, so He said: "And have forbidden what Allah has provided for them, inventing lies against Allah."
