The second aspect:
8730 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Ibn Fudayl and Abu Khalid told us, from Dawud ibn Abi Hind, from Abu Nadrah, from Usayr ibn Jabir al-Muharibi, from 'Abd Allah, who said: "Do you read?" We said: "Yes." He said: "Do you not understand? What is the matter with you, do you not comprehend? 'So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention so that you may receive mercy.'"
8731 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Khalid told us, from Hajjaj ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid, he said: A man recited behind the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, so it was revealed: "So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention so that you may receive mercy."
8732 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Usamah told us, from Abu al-Miqdam, from Mu'awiyah ibn Qurrah al-Muzani, who said: I think he is from 'Abd Allah ibn Mufaddal, he said: It was only revealed: "So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention so that you may receive mercy," regarding the recitation of the Imam; if he recites, then listen to him and pay attention.
8733 - My father narrated to us, al-Nufayli told us, Miskin ibn Bukayr told us, Thabit ibn 'Ajlan told us, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: The believer is at liberty regarding listening on the day of Jumu'ah, or in a prescribed prayer, or on the day of Adha, or the day of Fitr, regarding His statement: "So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention."
8734 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, al-Thawri informed us, from Jabir, from Mujahid, he said: Listening attentively became obligatory in two situations during the prayer while the Imam is reciting, and during Jumu'ah while the Imam is delivering the khutbah.
8735 - It was read to Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la, Ibn Wahb informed us, Ibn Zayd informed me, from his father, he said: When it was revealed: "So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention," he said: It is while standing in the prayer.
The third aspect:
8736 - Muhammad ibn Muslim mentioned, Muhammad ibn Musa ibn A'yan told me, Khattab told us, Khusayf told us, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His statement: "So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention so that you may receive mercy," he said: It is in the prayer and when the revelation descends from Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.

٨٧٣٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ وَأَبُو خَالِدٍ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدَ عَنِ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ عَنْ أُسَيْرِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ الْمُحَارِبِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: لَعَلَّكُمْ تُقِرُّونَ؟ قُلْنَا: نَعَمْ قَالَ: أَلا تَفْقَهُونَ؟ مالكم لَا تَعْقِلُونَ؟ وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ وَأَنْصِتُوا لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ.

٨٧٣٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمِقْدَامِ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ الْمُزَنِيِّ قَالَ: أَحْسِبُهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُفَضَّلٍ قَالَ: إِنَّمَا نَزَلَتْ وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ وَأَنْصِتُوا لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ فِي قِرَاءَةِ الإِمَامِ إِذَا قَرَأَ فَاسْتَمِعْ لَهُ وَأَنْصِتْ.
٨٧٣٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا النُّفَيْلِيُّ، ثنا مِسْكِينُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا ثَابِتُ بْنُ عَجْلانَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ فِي سَعَةٍ مِنَ الاسْتِمَاعِ إِلَى يَوْمِ جُمُعَةَ، أَوْ فِي صَلاةٍ مَكْتُوبَةٍ أَوْ يَوْمِ أَضْحَى أَوْ يَوْمِ فِطْرٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ وَأَنْصِتُوا
٨٧٣٤ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ أَنْبَأَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ «١» أَنْبَأَ الثَّوْرِيُّ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ: وَجَبَ الإنصات في اثنتين مِنَ الصَّلاةِ وَالإِمَامُ يَقْرَأُ وَفِي الْجُمُعَةِ وَالإِمَامُ يخطب.
٨٧٣٥ - قرى عَلَى يُونُسَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى أَنْبَأَ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: حِينَ أُنْزِلَتْ وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ وأنصتوا قَالَ: يَكُونُ قَائِمًا فِي الصَّلَاةِ.
الْوَجْهُ الثَّالِثُ:
٨٧٣٦ - ذَكَرَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ أَعْيَنَ ثنا خَطَّابٌ ثنا خُصَيْفٌ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ وَأَنْصِتُوا لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ قَالَ: فِي الصَّلاةِ وَحِينَ يَنْزِلُ الْوَحْي عَنِ الله عز وجل.
