الترجمة · EN

His saying: "And do not follow [other] ways."

8102 - Abu Harun Muhammad ibn Khalid al-Kharraz told us, 'Abd Allah ibn al-Jahm told us, ‘Amr ibn Abi Qays told us, from ‘Asim, from Abu Wa'il, from ‘Abd Allah ibn Mas‘ud, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, drew a line, then he drew lines to his right and left. Then the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, recited: "And [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it." He then said: "These are ways that are shared, and there is no way among them except that upon it there is a devil calling to it." Then the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, recited: "And [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for they will separate you from His way."

8103 - Muhammad ibn Sa‘d informed us, in what he wrote to me, my father told me, my uncle told me, from his father, from ‘Atiyyah, from Ibn ‘Abbas: His saying: "And do not follow [other] ways, for they will separate you from His way," he says: "Do not follow misguidances."

8104 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj told us, Abu Usamah told us, from Shibl, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "And do not follow [other] ways, for they will separate you from His way," he said: "Innovations and doubts."(1)

His saying, the Exalted: "For they will separate you from His way."

8105 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us, in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj told us, he said: I heard ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam, regarding His saying: "And do not follow [other] ways, for they will separate you from His way," he said: "He forbade them from following ways other than Islam, so that they might be separated from His way, from Islam."

His saying: "This has He instructed you with that you may become righteous."

8106 - ‘Isam ibn al-‘Asqalani told us there on the seashore, Adam told us, Abu Safwan al-Qasim ibn Yazid ibn ‘Awanah told us, from Yahya Abu al-Nadr, Juwaybir told us, from al-Dahhak, regarding His saying: "That you may become righteous," he says: "That you may ward off the Fire by the five prayers."

8107 - ‘Amr ibn Thawr al-Qaysari informed us, in what he wrote to me, al-Firyabi told us, Sufyan told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "That you may become righteous," he said: "That you may obey Him."
