His saying, the Exalted: "And the sighted and the hearing"

And by the same chain, from Qatadah, [regarding] His saying: "And the sighted and the hearing": "As for the believer, he heard the truth, so he benefited from it, comprehended it, and memorized it."

His saying, the Exalted: "Are they equal in comparison? Then will you not remember?"

10805 - Abu Zur‘ah told us, Yahya ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Bukayr told us, ‘Abd Allah ibn Lahi‘ah told us, ‘Ata’ ibn Dinar told us, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, he said: "They are not equal in virtue."

His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, We sent Noah to his people"

10806 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashajj told us, ‘Abd Allah told us, from Isra’il, from al-Suddi, from Abu Salih: "Sent (arsala)" means: "Dispatched (ba‘atha)."

10807 - Abu Zur‘ah told us, Ibrahim ibn al-Fadl ibn Abi Suwayd told us, Abu ‘Awanah told us, from Qatadah, from Anas, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "The first prophet sent was Noah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace."

His saying, the Exalted: "[Saying], 'Indeed, I am to you a clear warner'"

10808 - My father told us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Salih told us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Ubayd Allah al-Fazari told us, from Shayban al-Nahwi, Qatadah informed me, from ‘Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, when it was revealed: "A warner," he said: "He means the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, [when] it was revealed upon him: 'A bringer of good tidings and a warner,' he said: 'A warner against the Fire.'"

His saying, the Exalted: "That you not worship except Allah"

10809 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, Abu Ghassan told us, Salamah ibn al-Fadl told us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, he said in what Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad told me, from ‘Ikrimah, or Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ‘Abbas, [regarding] His saying: "Worship (u‘budu)" means: "Declare Him One (wahhidu)."

10810 - Muhammad ibn al-‘Abbas, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, told us, ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Salamah told us, Salamah ibn al-Fadl told us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq told us, he said: "Among the narrative of Noah and the narrative of his people, according to what the scholars mention, is that he was forbearing and patient. No prophet ever encountered from his people more tribulation than he encountered."
