His saying: "And we do not see in you any favor over us."
10816 - Abu Zur‘ah told us, Yahya ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Bukayr told us, ‘Abd Allah ibn Lahi‘ah told us, ‘Ata’ ibn Dinar told us, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "any favor" meaning: any superiority.
His saying, the Exalted: "Have you considered: if I should be upon clear evidence from my Lord?"
10817 - It was mentioned from Yazid ibn Harun, from Ja‘far ibn Sulayman: I heard Abu ‘Imran al-Jawni read this verse: "if I should be upon clear evidence from my Lord," he said: "Upon certainty."
10818 - And by the chain of ‘Ali ibn al-Mubarak, from Ibn Jurayj, regarding His saying: "Have you considered: if I should be upon clear evidence from my Lord?" [He said]: "I have known Him through it, and I have known His command through it, that there is no god but Him."
His saying, the Exalted: "...has been made obscure to you," up to His saying: "...are averse to it."
10819 - My father told us, Hisham ibn Khalid told us, Shu‘ayb ibn Ishaq told us, from Sa‘id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "Have you considered: if I should be upon clear evidence from my Lord?" up to His saying: "should we force it upon you while you are averse to it?" By Allah, if the Prophet of Allah could have forced it upon his people, he would have done so, but he did not possess that, nor was he empowered to do so.
10820 - Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Muqri’ told us, Sufyan told us, from ‘Umar, and Ibn ‘Abbas read: "has been made obscure to you (fa-‘ummiyat ‘alaykum), should we force it upon you from the depth of ourselves (min shatri anfusina)."
His saying: "My reward is not but from Allah."
10821 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa’ told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "My reward" meaning: my recompense.
His saying, the Exalted: "...they will meet their Lord," the verse.
10822 - My father told us, Yahya ibn al-Mughirah told us, Jarir told us, from Ya‘qub, from Ja‘far, from Sa‘id, regarding His saying: "...they will meet their Lord," he said: "Those who sold their souls for Allah and resigned them to death."
His saying, the Exalted: "And O my people, who would protect me from Allah if I drove them away?"

10823 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj told us, he said: I heard ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding the saying of Allah: "And I do not say to those whom your eyes despise" he said: "You deemed them insignificant."

١٠٨١٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، ثنا عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ، قَوْلُهُ: مِنْ فَضْلٍ يَعْنِي: فَضِيلَةً.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُ عَلَى بَيِّنَةٍ
١٠٨١٧ - ذُكِرَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ هَارُونَ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيَّ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الآيَةَ إِنْ كُنْتُ عَلَى بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّي قَالَ: عَلَى ثِقَةٍ.
١٠٨١٨ - وَبِإِسْنَادِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَوْلُهُ: أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُ عَلَى بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّي عَرَفْتُهُ بِهَا وَعَرَفْتُ بِهَا أَمْرَهُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلا هُوَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَعُمِّيَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ كَارِهُونَ
١٠٨١٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَوْلُهُ: أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُ عَلَى بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّي إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: أَنُلْزِمُكُمُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ لَهَا كَارِهُونَ أَمَا وَاللَّهِ لَوِ اسْتَطَاعَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ لزَمَهَا قَوْمَهُ وَلَكِنَّهُ لَمْ يَمْلِكْ تِلْكَ وَلَمْ يُمَلَكْهُ.
١٠٨٢٠ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْمُقْرِئُ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عن عمر، وقرأ بن عَبَّاسٍ فَعُمِّيَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنُلْزِمُكُمُوهَا مِنْ شَطْرِ أَنْفُسِنَا.
قَوْلُهُ: إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلا عَلَى اللَّهِ
١٠٨٢١ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ: إِنْ أَجْرِيَ: جزائي.
قوله تعالى: إنهم ملاقوا رَبِّهِمْ الآيَةَ
١٠٨٢٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ، ثنا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، فِي قوله: إنهم ملاقوا رَبِّهِمْ قَالَ: الَّذِينَ شَرَوْا أَنْفُسَهُمْ لِلَّهِ وَطَمِنُوهَا عَلَى الْمَوْتِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَيَا قَوْمِ مَنْ يَنْصُرُنِي مِنَ اللَّهِ إن طردتهم

١٠٨٢٣ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: وَلا أَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ تَزْدَرِي أَعْيُنُكُمْ قال: حقرتموهم.
