الترجمة · EN

10847 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Abu al-Jamahir told us, Ibn Wahb told us, Ibn Lahi‘ah informed me, from Khalid ibn Yazid, from Sa‘id ibn Abi Hilal, from Abu Sahl, from Tabi‘, from Ka‘b al-Ahbar, that he said: "When Allah had extracted those who were in the loins and wombs—both believers and disbelievers—He revealed to Noah that none of your people would believe except those who have already believed. So, construct the ship." He said: 'O my Lord, I am not a carpenter.' He said: 'Yes, for that is before My eyes; take the adze.' His hand was then guided and did not err. They began to pass by him and say: 'This is the one who claims to be a prophet; he has now become a carpenter!' So he worked on it for forty years.

His saying, the Exalted: "And every time he passed by a company of his people, they ridiculed him."

10848 - My father told us, Sa‘id ibn al-Hakam ibn Abi Maryam told us, Musa ibn Ya‘qub al-Zimmi told us, from Qa’id the freed slave of ‘Ubayd Allah ibn Abi Rafi‘, that Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Rabi‘ah informed him that ‘A’ishah, the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), informed him that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, were to have mercy on anyone from the people of Noah, He would have had mercy on the mother of the infant." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Noah remained among his people for a thousand years. He planted trees for a hundred years until they grew large, and he went to great lengths. Then he cut them down and made them into a ship. They would pass by him and ridicule him, saying: 'He is making a ship on dry land, so how will it sail?' He would say: 'You shall know.' When he finished, and the water welled up and filled the streets, the mother of the infant feared for him—for she loved him dearly—so she went out to the mountain until she reached its third. When the water reached the mountain and the water reached her, she went out with him until she climbed to the top of the mountain. When the water reached her neck, she pushed him away with her hand in terror. Had Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, had mercy on any of them, He would have had mercy on the mother of the infant."

His saying, the Exalted: "He said, 'If you ridicule us, then we will ridicule you [just] as you ridicule [us].'" the verse.

10849 - My father told us, Abu Baqiyy Hisham ibn ‘Abd al-Malik told us, Baqiyyah told us, Umm ‘Abd Allah—meaning the daughter of Khalid ibn Mihran—told me, from her father, who said: "It is said: Those who ridicule people in this world will be told: 'Enter Paradise.' When they reach it, they will be turned back, and it will be said to them: 'You are being ridiculed just as you used to ridicule people in this world.'"

His saying, the Exalted: "whom an ignominious torment will befall."

10850 - Abu ‘Abd Allah al-Tabarani told us, Hafs al-‘Adani told us, al-Hakam ibn Aban told us, from ‘Ikrimah regarding His saying: "whom an ignominious torment will befall," he said: "Drowning."
