10878 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Abu al-Jumahir told us, Ibn Wahb told us, Ibn Lahi'ah informed me, from Khalid ibn Yazid, from Sa'id ibn Abi Hilal, from Tabi', from Ka'b al-Ahbar, that he said: "The believers on that day were seventy-two, then Allah sent the water from the sky and opened the earth."
10879 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Abu al-Jumahir told us, Ibn Wahb told us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father, that there were eighty of the people of faith with Noah on the day his people were drowned.
His saying, the Exalted: "And he said, 'Board it.'"
10880 - My father told us, Hisham ibn Khalid al-Azraq told us, al-Walid ibn Muslim told us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, who said: "He boarded the Ark on the tenth of Rajab, and disembarked from it on the tenth of Muharram, and he and his family fasted from night to night."
10881 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Ishaq ibn Ibrahim told us, Hisham ibn Yusuf told us, Ibn Jurayj told us, in the hadith of Muhammad ibn 'Abbad ibn Ja'far, regarding "And he said, 'Board it,'" that Abu Salih informed him that Noah (peace be upon him) carried with him his three sons, Noah's wife, and the three women who were the wives of his three sons; they were eight, along with their spouses. The names of his sons are Yafith, Ham, and Sam. Ham had intercourse with his wife in the Ark, so Noah prayed that his offspring be changed, and thus the Sudanese came to be.
10882 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, 'Ali ibn 'Uthman told us, Dawud ibn Abi al-Furat told us, from 'Ali ibn Ahmar, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: "There were eighty men with Noah in the Ark, along with their families, and they were in the Ark for one hundred and fifty days. Allah directed the Ark to Mecca, and it circled the House (the Ka'bah) for forty days, then He directed it to al-Judi, where it settled. Noah sent the raven to bring him news of the earth, but it went and perched on the carcasses, so it was delayed for him. Then he sent the dove, and it brought him an olive leaf, and its feet were stained with mud, so Noah knew that the water had receded. He descended to the base of al-Judi and built a village, which he named 'Thamaniyah' (Eighty). One day, they awoke to find that their tongues had become confused into eighty languages, one of which was the Arabic tongue, so they could not understand each other's speech, and Noah (peace be upon him) would interpret for them."

١٠٨٧٨ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا أَبُو الْجُمَاهِرِ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ خَالِدُ، بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ، بْنِ أَبِي هِلالٍ، عَنْ تَبِيعٍ، عَنْ كَعْبِ الأَحْبَارِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ يَوْمَئِذٍ اثْنَانِ وَسَبْعُونَ فَأَرْسَلَ اللَّهُ الْمَاءَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَفَتَحَ الأَرْضَ.
١٠٨٧٩ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا أَبُو الْجُمَاهِرِ، ثنا بن وَهْبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ نُوحٍ يَوْمَ أُغْرِقَ قَوْمُهُ ثَمَانُونَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْإِيمَانِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَقَالَ ارْكَبُوا فِيهَا
١٠٨٨٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، الأَزْرَقُ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ: رَكِبَ فِي السَّفِينَةِ فِي عَشْرٍ خَلَتْ مِنْ رَجَبٍ وَنَزَلَ عَنْهَا فِي عَشْرٍ خَلَتْ مِنَ الْمُحْرِمِ فَصَامَ هُوَ وَأَهْلُهُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ إِلَى اللَّيْلِ.
١٠٨٨١ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ، بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، ثنا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ فِي حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ وَقَالَ ارْكَبُوا فِيهَا أَنَّ أَبَا صَالِحٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ نُوحًا عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ حَمَلَ مَعَهُ بَنِيهِ الثَّلاثَةُ وَامْرَأَةَ نُوحٍ وَالثَّلاثَةُ نِسْوَةٌ نِسَاءُ بَنِيهِ الثَّلاثُ فَهُمُ ثَمَانِيَةٌ وَأَزْوَاجُهُمْ فَأَسْمَاءُ بَنِيهِ. يَافِثُ وَحَامٌ وَسَامٌ فَأَصَابَ حَامٌ امْرَأَتَهُ فِي السَّفِينَةِ فَدَعَا نُوحٌ أَنْ يُغَيِّرَ لُطْفَتَهُ فَجَاءَ السُّودَانُ.
١٠٨٨٢ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي الْفُرَاتِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَحْمَرَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: كَانَ مَعَ نُوحٍ فِي السَّفِينَةِ ثَمَانُونَ رَجُلا مَعَهُمْ أَهْلُوهُمْ وَأَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا فِي السَّفِينَةِ مِائَةً وَخَمْسِينَ يَوْمًا وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ وَجَّهَ السَّفِينَةَ إِلَى مَكَّةَ فَدَارَتْ بِالْبَيْتِ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا ثُمَّ وَجَّهَهَا إِلَى الْجُودِيِّ فَاسْتَقَرَّتْ عَلَيْهِ، فَبَعَثَ نُوحٌ الْغُرَابَ لَيَأْتِيهِ بِخَبَرِ الْأَرْضِ فَذَهَبَ فَوَقَعَ عَلَى الحيف، فَأَبْطَأَ عَلَيْهِ فَبَعَثَ الْحَمَامَةَ فَأَتَتْهُ بِوَرِقِ الزَّيْتُونِ، وَلَطَخَتْ رِجْلَهَا بِالطِّينِ، فَعَرَفَ نُوحٌ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ قَدْ نَضَبَ، فَهَبَطَ إِلَى أَسْفَلِ الْجُودِيِّ فَبَنَى قَرْيَةً وَسَمَّاهَا ثَمَانِينَ فَأَصْبَحُوا ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَقَدْ تَبَلْبَلَتْ أَلْسِنَتُهُمْ عَلَى ثَمَانِينَ لُغَةً أَحَدُهَا اللِّسَانُ الْعَرَبِيُّ فَكَانَ لَا يُفَقِّهُّ بَعْضُهُمْ كَلامَ بَعْضٍ وَكَانَ نُوحٌ عليه السلام يعبر عنهم «١» .
