10009 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "So do not wrong yourselves in them," [meaning] in all of them.

10010 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid reported to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "So do not wrong yourselves in them," he said: "Indeed, wrongdoing during the Sacred Month is a greater sin and burden than wrongdoing in other than it, even though wrongdoing is great in any case. It is as if Allah magnifies of His command whatever He wills."

His saying, Exalted is He: "And fight the polytheists collectively, as they fight you collectively."

10011 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And fight the polytheists collectively," he says: "All together."

10012 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman informed us, in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding "And fight the polytheists collectively, as they fight you collectively," as for "collectively," it is: "all together," and "your affair is united."

10013 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "And fight the polytheists collectively," [he said]: "This verse abrogated every verse that contained a concession."

His saying, Exalted is He: "Indeed, the postponement [al-Nasi'] is an increase in disbelief."

10014 - Ahmad ibn Yunus ibn al-Musayyab narrated to us, Makki ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, Musa ibn 'Ubaydah narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn Dinar, from Ibn 'Umar, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) stopped at al-'Aqabah and said: 'Indeed, the postponement is from the Shaytan, an increase in disbelief by which those who have disbelieved are led astray.'"

10015 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said regarding "Indeed, the postponement is an increase in disbelief": "The postponement: Junadah ibn 'Awf ibn Malik al-Kinani used to attend the season [of pilgrimage] every year—and he was called Abu Thumamah—and he would proclaim: 'Beware, Abu Thumamah is not censured nor blamed! Beware, indeed the year of the first Safar is lawful!' and he would declare it lawful for the people."
