people," he said. "Then it was revealed regarding them: 'And among them are those who criticize you concerning the charities; if they are given from it, they are pleased; but if they are not given from it, they become angry.' Abu Sa‘id said: I bear witness that I heard this hadith from the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and I bear witness that when ‘Ali killed them and I was with him, the man was brought according to the description which the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—described.
10341 - Al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazyad reported to us by way of recitation, Muhammad ibn Shu‘ayb ibn Shapur narrated to us, ‘Uthman ibn ‘Ata’ informed me from his father ‘Ata’ who said: As for "criticize you concerning the charities," the criticism (lamz) is: finding fault with him regarding the charities.
The Second Aspect:
10342 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa’ narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, "And among them are those who criticize you concerning the charities," he said: 'Yalmuzuka' means: he asks you.
His saying, the Exalted: "If they are given from it, they are pleased."
10343 - Ibn Abi Aslam mentioned it, Ishaq ibn Rahawayh al-Hanzali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Yazid reported to us, Juwaybir reported to us from al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "And among them are those who criticize you concerning the charities; if they are given from it, they are pleased," the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—used to distribute among them what Allah gave him of wealth, whether little or much. As for the believers: they were pleased with what they were given and praised Allah for it. As for the hypocrites: if they were given much, they rejoiced.
His saying, the Exalted: "But if they are not given from it."
10344 - Ibn Abi Aslam mentioned it, Ishaq ibn Ibrahim al-Hanzali reported to us, Muhammad ibn Yazid reported to us, Juwaybir narrated to us from al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "But if they are not given from it, they become angry."
His saying, the Exalted: "They become angry."
10345 - My father narrated to us, Sahl ibn ‘Uthman narrated to us, ‘Isa ibn Rashid Abu al-Fadl narrated to us, he said: I heard Ziyad ibn Laqit reading: "But if they are not given from it, they become angry." I said to Sahl ibn ‘Uthman: "Perhaps it is Iyad ibn Laqit," but he refused to abandon his statement: "Ziyad."

النَّاسِ، قَالَ: فَنَزَلَتْ فِيهِمْ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَلْمِزُكَ فِي الصَّدَقَاتِ فَإِنْ أُعْطُوا مِنْهَا رَضُوا وَإِنْ لَمْ يُعْطَوْا مِنْهَا إِذَا هُمْ يَسْخَطُونَ قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ: وَأَشْهَدُ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا حِينَ قَتَلَهُمْ وَأَنَا مَعَهُ جيء بِالرَّجُلِ عَلَى النَّعْتِ الَّذِي نَعَتَ النَّبِيُّ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ-.
١٠٣٤١ - أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مَزْيَدٍ قِرَاءَةً، ثنا مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ شَابُورَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ: وَأَمَّا يَلْمِزُكَ فِي الصَّدَقَاتِ فللمز:
الطَّعْنُ عَلَيْهِ فِي الصَّدَقَاتِ.
الْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:
١٠٣٤٢ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ثنا شَبَابَةُ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ «١» وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَلْمِزُكَ فِي الصَّدَقَاتِ قَالَ: يَلْمِزُكَ، يَسْأَلُكَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَإِنْ أُعْطُوا مِنْهَا رَضُوا.
١٠٣٤٣ - ذَكَرَهُ ابْنُ أَبِي أَسْلَمَ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ رَاهَوَيْهِ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ، أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، أَنْبَأَ جُوَيْبِرٌ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَلْمِزُكَ فِي الصَّدَقَاتِ فَإِنْ أُعْطُوا مِنْهَا رَضُوا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- يَقْسِمُ بَيْنَهُمْ مَا آتَاهُ اللَّهُ مِنْ مَالٍ؟ قَلِيلٌ أَوْ كَثِيرٌ، فَأَمَّا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ: فَكَانُوا يَرْضَوْنَ بِمَا أُعْطُوا وَيَحْمِدُونَ اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ، وَأَمَّا الْمُنَافِقُونَ: فَإِنْ أُعْطُوا كَثِيرًا فَرِحُوا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَإِنْ لَمْ يُعْطَوْا مِنْهَا.
١٠٣٤٤ - ذَكَرَهُ ابْنُ أَبِي أَسْلَمَ، أَنْبَأَ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ، أَنْبَأَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، ثنا جويبر عن الضحاك قوله: إن لَمْ يُعْطُوا مِنْهَا إِذَا هُمْ يَسْخَطُونَ.
قَوْلُهُ تعالى: إذا هم يسخطون.
١٠٣٤٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ رَاشِدِ أَبُو الْفَضْلِ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ زِيَادَ بْنَ لَقِيطٍ يَقْرَأُ وَإِنْ لَمْ يُعْطَوْا مِنْهَا إِذَا هُمْ يَسْخَطُونَ قُلْتُ لِسَهْلِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ: لَعَلَّهُ إِيَادُ بْنُ لقيط، فأبى أن يدع قوله: زياد.
