And the second interpretation:
10304 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites," he said: He commanded him to strive against the hypocrites with the tongue.
10305 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us from Juwaybir from al-Dahhak regarding "Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites," he said: Strive against the hypocrites with speech. Similar was narrated from Muqatil ibn Hayyan and al-Rabi' ibn Anas.
His saying, the Almighty: "And be harsh with them."
10306 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And be harsh with them," he says: Remove gentleness from them.
10307 - My father narrated to us, 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Munib narrated to us, Abu Mu'adh al-Nahwi narrated to us, 'Ubayd ibn Sulayman narrated to us from al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "And be harsh with them," he said: And be harsh with the hypocrites through speech.
His saying, the Almighty: "And their refuge is (Hell) the Fire."
10308 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "And their refuge is (Hell) the Fire," meaning: Do not think that they have a consequence of victory or appearance over you, as long as you hold fast to Me and follow My command, regarding the disobedience that befell you from them due to sins you had presented for yourselves.
His saying: "And wretched is the destination."
10309 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us from Ibn Abi Najih regarding His saying: "And wretched is the destination," he said: The destination of the disbeliever is to the Fire. Ibn Abi Najih said: I heard it from 'Ikrimah, then I presented it to Mujahid, and he did not disapprove of it.
His saying, the Almighty: "They swear by Allah that they did not say."
10222 - (*) Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Ya'qub ibn Humayd ibn Kasib narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Fulayh narrated to us from Musa ibn 'Uqbah from 'Abd Allah ibn al-Fadl from Anas ibn Malik, he said: Zayd ibn Arqam heard a man from the hypocrites saying, while the Prophet (peace be upon him) was delivering a sermon: If this is

١٠٣٠٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: جَاهَدِ الْكُفَّارَ وَالْمُنَافِقِينَ فَأَمَرَهُ بِجِهَادِ الْمُنَافِقِينَ بِاللِّسَانِ.
١٠٣٠٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ ثنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ جُوَيْبِرٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ جَاهَدِ الْكُفَّارَ وَالْمُنَافِقِينَ قَالَ: جَاهَدِ الْمُنَافِقِينَ بِالْقَوْلِ- وَرُوِيَ عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ وَالرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ: مِثْلُهُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَاغْلُظْ عَلَيْهِمْ
١٠٣٠٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا أَبُو صَالِحٍ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: وَاغْلُظْ عَلَيْهِمْ يَقُولُ: أَذْهِبِ الرِّفْقَ عَنْهُمْ.
١٠٣٠٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُنِيبٍ ثنا أَبُو مُعَاذٍ النَّحْوِيُّ ثنا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ قَوْلُهُ: وَاغْلُظْ عَلَيْهِمْ قَالَ: وَاغْلُظْ عَلَى الْمُنَافِقِينَ بِالْكَلامِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: ومأواهم (جهنم) النار
١٠٣٠٨ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو زُنَيْجٌ ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: وَمَأْوَاهُمُ (جَهَنَّمُ) النار أَيْ: فَلا تَظُنُّوا أَنَّ لَهُمُ عَاقِبَةَ نَصْرٍ ولا ظهور عَلَيْكُمْ، مَا اعْتَصَمْتُمْ بِي، وَاتَّبَعْتُمْ أَمْرِي، لِلْمَعْصِيَةِ الَّتِي أَصَابَتْكُمْ مِنْهُمْ بِذُنُوبٍ قَدَّمْتُمُوهَا لأَنْفُسِكُمْ.
قَوْلُهُ: وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ
١٠٣٠٩ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ثنا شَبَابَةُ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ قَوْلُهُ:
وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ قَالَ: مَصِيرُ الْكَافِرِ إِلَى النَّارِ، قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ: سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ عِكْرِمَةَ فَعَرَضْتُهُ عَلَى مُجَاهِدٍ فَلَمْ يُنْكِرْهُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: يَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّهِ مَا قَالُوا.
١٠٢٢٢ - (*) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ كَاسِبٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُلَيْحٍ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: سَمِعَ زَيْدُ بْنُ أَرْقَمَ رَجُلا مِنَ الْمُنَافِقِينَ يَقُولُ: وَالنَّبِيُّ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- يَخْطُبُ لَئِنْ كَانَ هَذَا
