12887 - From Muhammad ibn Ka'b regarding His saying: "The junction of the two seas," he said: "Tangier."

From al-Suddi regarding His saying: "The junction of the two seas," he said: "The Kur and the Aras, where they flow into the sea."

His saying: "Or I will spend a long period of time."

12888 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "Or I will spend a long period of time," he said: "An era."

12889 - From Mujahid regarding His saying: "Or I will spend a long period of time," he said: "Seventy years." And regarding His saying: "So when they reached the junction between them," he said: "Between the two seas." [He said regarding] "They forgot their fish," he said: "They lost it in the sea, and it took its course into the sea, a wonder." He said: "Moses was amazed at the trace of the fish and its circuits in which it disappeared. 'So they retraced their steps, following their footsteps,'" he said: "Moses and his young companion following the traces of the fish where it split the sea, returning."

His saying: "They forgot their fish."

12890 - From Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "They forgot their fish," he said: "It was salted and split open at the belly."

His saying: "And it took its course into the sea as a tunnel."

He said: "Its trace was dry in the sea as if it were on stone."

His saying: "That is what we were seeking. So they retraced their steps, following their footsteps."

12891 - From Ubayy ibn Ka'b, he said: "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: 'Water has not split for anyone since people existed, except for the site of the water where the fish entered; it became a gap like a sphere, until Moses returned to it and saw its retention.' He said: 'That is what we were seeking. So they retraced their steps, following their footsteps,' meaning: they followed their traces until they reached the entrance point of the fish."

12892 - From Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "And it took its course into the sea as a tunnel," he said: "He came and saw its fins in the mud when it fell into the water."
