Three verses from the Book of Allah: "And indeed, [appointed] over you are keepers, noble and recording; they know whatever you do." And the saying of Allah: "And, [O Muhammad], you are not [engaged] in any matter or recite any of the Qur'an and [you people] do not do any deed except that We are witness over you when you are involved in it." And the saying of Allah: "Then is He who is maintainer of every soul, [knowing] what it has earned." Nafi' said: I heard Abu Hilal saying the same as al-Qurazi, and he added a fourth verse: "And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse."

The saying of the Most High: "Thus [it was] that We might avert from him evil and indecency."

11490 - Al-Hasan ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Jarwi narrated to us, 'Abd al-Malik ibn Bazi' al-Tinnisi narrated to us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid ibn Jabir regarding His saying: "Thus [it was] that We might avert from him evil and indecency," he said: Unlawful sexual intercourse, and ugly defamation.

The saying of the Most High: "Indeed, he was of Our chosen servants."

11491 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, Ibn Wahb reported to us, Sufyan al-Thawri narrated to us, from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Rufay', from Abu Thumamah, he said: The disciples said, "O Spirit of Allah, tell us who is the sincere one (al-mukhlis) for Allah?" He said, "The one who acts for the sake of Allah and does not like for people to praise him."

The saying of the Most High: "And they both raced to the door."

11492 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Safwan narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to us, Zuhayr ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Mulaykah, from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abbas, he said: He did not take heed from the call, until Jibril struck him in his chest and every desire flew out of his head and came out through his fingertips. He leaped to the door and found it locked. Yusuf lifted his leg and struck the lower door with it, and it opened for him, and the doors that were behind it opened for him, and she followed him and caught up to him at the last of them.

11493 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Thawr narrated to us, from Ma'mar, from Qatadah regarding: "And they both raced to the door," he said: He and the woman raced to the door.

The saying of the Most High: "And she tore his shirt from the back."
