His saying, the Almighty: "When Joseph said to his father, 'O my father, indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars.'"
11328 - Ahmad ibn Sinan al-Wasiti narrated to us, [saying] Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri narrated to us, [saying] Sufyan narrated to us, from Simak, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, [regarding] His saying: "Indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars," he said: "The vision of the Prophets is revelation."
His saying, the Almighty: "...eleven stars."
11329 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, [saying] Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, [saying] Sa'id ibn Bashir informed us, from Qatadah: His saying, "When Joseph said to his father, 'O my father, indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars,'" meaning: his brothers. It was narrated from al-Suddi the like of that.
11330 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi narrated to us, in what he wrote to me, [saying] Asbagh ibn al-Faraj narrated to us, [who] said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding His saying: "Indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars and the sun and the moon; I saw them prostrating to me." He said: "His parents and his brothers. His brothers envied him, and they were prophets, so they said: 'He was not content that his brothers would prostrate to him, until his parents prostrated to him [as well], when it reached them.'"
His saying, the Almighty: "...and the sun and the moon."
11331 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, [saying] Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, [saying] Sa'id ibn Bashir narrated to us, from Qatadah, [regarding] His saying: "...and the sun and the moon," he said: "The sun: Jacob, and the moon: the mother of Joseph, Rachel. 'I saw them prostrating to me.'" It was narrated from al-Suddi the like of that.
11332 - al-Hasan ibn 'Arafah said, [saying] al-Hakam ibn Zuhayr narrated to us, from al-Suddi, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Sabit, from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah, [who] said: A man from the Jews, who was called Bustani, came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "O Muhammad, inform me about the stars which Joseph saw prostrating to him, what are their names?" The Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did not answer him with anything. Then Gabriel, peace be upon him, descended and informed the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, of their names. He said: "So the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, sent for Bustani. When he came, he said to him: 'Will you believe if I inform you of their names?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Jurthan, Tariq, al-Dhayyal, Dhu al-Katifayn, Qabis...'
(1) Ibn Kathir said: A group of scholars held that there was no prophet among them other than him, and that revelation was not sent to his other brothers. See Qisas al-Anbiya' 1/270.
