الترجمة · EN

He said: They replied, "Yes, and what is that?" They said: "We have missed the King's drinking vessel, and whoever returns it shall have a reward, and I am a guarantor for it." They said: "By Allah, you have known that we did not come to spread corruption in the land."

11799 - ‘Abd Allah narrated to us, al-Husayn narrated to us, ‘Amir narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi: They said, and they turned towards them, saying: "What is it that you miss?"

His saying, the Exalted: "They said, 'We miss the measuring cup of the King.'"

11800 - My father narrated to us, Hammad ibn Zadhan narrated to us, Tawba ibn ‘Ulwan narrated to us, Shu‘ba narrated to us, from Abu Bishr, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "The measuring cup of the King," he said: It is like a makkuk (vessel) made of silver, from which they drink.

11801 - My father narrated to us, ‘Amr ibn Rafi‘ narrated to us, Hushaym narrated to us, from Abu Bishr, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, that he read: "Suwagh al-Malik" (The smith-work of the King), and it was his vessel from which he used to drink, and it was elongated in shape.

11802 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Harithi narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, who said: His vessel from which he used to drink.

11803 - My father and Musaddad narrated to us, Abu ‘Awana narrated to us, from Abu Bishr, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, who said regarding "The measuring cup of the King": It is the Persian makkuk from which the non-Arabs drink, with two ends meeting.

11804 - My father narrated to us, Abu ‘Amr al-Duri narrated to us, Abu Tumayla narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Mu’min ibn Khalid narrated to us, from Ghalib al-Laythi, from Yahya ibn Ya‘mar, that he used to read it as "Suwagh al-Malik" with a ghayn. He said: It was crafted from gold or silver, the drinking vessel from which he used to drink.

11805 - Abu Zur‘a narrated to us, Safwan narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to us, Abu Bishr al-Walid ibn Muhammad—who is al-Waqqari—narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, regarding God's saying: "We miss the suwagh (smith-work) of the King," he said: The cup.

His saying, the Exalted: "And whoever brings it shall have a camel's load."

[The first interpretation]

11806 - Hajjaj ibn Hamza narrated to us, Shababa narrated to us, Warqa’ narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "A camel's load," he said: A load of food, and it is a dialect.

11807 - ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu al-Jamahir narrated to us, Sa‘id ibn Bashir narrated to us, Qatada narrated to us: "And whoever brings it shall have a camel's load," meaning: A load of a camel.
