14516 - My father narrated to us, [saying]: 'Ubayd Allah ibn Hamzah ibn Isma'il reported, [saying]: My father reported, [saying]: Abu Sinan reported, regarding His saying: "And give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you," he said: It refers to the mukatab (slave under contract); when he pays his contract [installment] to you, give him something from it; if you do not, then you have wronged him.

14517 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman ibn al-Ash'ath narrated to us, [saying]: al-Husayn ibn 'Ali reported, [saying]: 'Amir ibn al-Furat reported, [saying]: Asbat reported, from al-Suddi, regarding "And give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you," he said: Ibn 'Umar used to remit a fourth from the mukatabs, and others used to remit a tenth.

The second view:

14518 - It was read to Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la, [who said]: Ibn Wahb informed us, [saying]: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam narrated to me, from his father, regarding the saying of Allah: "And give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you," he said: That is regarding zakah; the authorities give them from the zakah, based on the saying of Allah: "And in the freeing of slaves."

14519 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us, in what he wrote to me, [saying]: Asbagh informed us, [saying]: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd, regarding the saying of Allah: "And give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you," he said: It is the fay' (spoils) and the sadaqat (charity). He recited the saying of Allah: "Indeed, the sadaqat are only for the poor and the needy..." until he reached, "and in the freeing of slaves." So Allah commanded them to pay them from it, and that is not from the kitabah. He said: And my father used to say: What does the kitabah have to do with this? It is from the wealth of Allah, [and] He has ordained a share for him in it.

His saying, the Exalted: "which He has given you."

14520 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan al-Hisinjani narrated to us, [saying]: Musaddad reported, [saying]: Yahya reported, from 'Abd al-Malik ibn Abi Sulayman, from 'Ata', regarding His saying: "And give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you," he said: [Give them] from what Allah has brought out for you.

14521 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, [who said]: Muhammad ibn 'Ali reported, [saying]: Muhammad ibn Muzahim reported, [saying]: Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf reported, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "And give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you," meaning: [the wealth] which He has given you.

His saying, the Exalted: "And do not force your slave girls to prostitution."
