nor the lame, nor the sick. Some of them said: It was only out of disgust and aversion, and some of them said: They said, "The sick person does not consume food as the healthy person consumes it, the lame person who is immobile cannot compete for food, and the blind person does not see the food."
14861 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' reported to us, Sa'id reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "There is no blame upon the blind, nor is there blame upon the lame, nor is there blame upon the sick." He said: Houses were restricted for a time; a man would not feed anyone, nor would he eat in the house of another, considering it sinful. Then, the first person for whom this was permitted was the blind man; then it was permitted thereafter for the people in general.
14862 - My father narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Marwan reported to us, my father reported to us, Sa'id ibn Bashir reported to us, from Sulayman ibn Musa regarding the saying of Allah: "There is no blame upon the blind" up to His saying: "from your houses." He said: A man would say: "We will not eat with the blind, because he does not know, nor with the lame, because he cannot sit steady, nor the sick." And a man would be in charge of another man's storeroom, so Allah revealed this verse: "There is no blame upon you that you eat together or separately."
14863 - Abu Zur'ah mentioned, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mutarrif reported to us, 'Uthman ibn 'Abd al-Rahman reported to us, from Ma'qil ibn 'Ubayd Allah, from 'Abd al-Karim, [regarding] "There is no blame upon the blind" [if he is invited] to follow his guide.
The Second Aspect:
14864 - Al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazyad reported to us by way of reading, Muhammad ibn Shu'ayb ibn Shabur informed us, 'Uthman ibn 'Ata' informed me, from his father: As for "There is no blame upon the blind, nor is there blame upon the lame, nor is there blame upon the sick," it is said that this is regarding Jihad. And the same was narrated from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam.
His saying, the Exalted: "nor is there blame upon the lame."

14865 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah reported to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "nor is there blame upon the sick." He said: The Ansar said: There is no wealth in Medina dearer than food. And they used to consider it sinful to eat with the lame, saying:
