His saying, the Exalted: "And those who, when they spend, are not extravagant."

15371 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih reported to us, Mu‘awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from ‘Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "And those who, when they spend," he said: "They are the believers."

15372 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn ‘Ammar reported to us, al-Walid reported to us, Ibn Lahi‘ah reported to us, from Yazid ibn Abi Habib regarding His saying: "And those who, when they spend, are not extravagant and are not stingy, but are ever, between that, [justly] moderate," he said: "Those are the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him."

His saying, the Exalted: "are not extravagant"

15373 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih reported to us, Mu‘awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from ‘Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "And those who, when they spend, are not extravagant," he said: "They do not act extravagantly by spending in the disobedience of Allah."

15374 - It was read to Yunus ibn ‘Abd al-A‘la, Ibn Wahb informed us, Khalid ibn Humayd informed me, from ‘Uqayl, from Ibn Shihab, that he used to say: "And those who, when they spend, are not extravagant," he said: "He does not spend it on falsehood."

15375 - Abu Sa‘id al-Ashaj narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Salam ibn Harb reported to us, Mughirah informed us, from Ibrahim regarding His saying: "And those who, when they spend, are not extravagant," he said: "He does not spend an expenditure that people would say, 'He has been extravagant.'"

15376 - My father narrated to us, ‘Ali ibn Maymun al-Raqqi reported to us, Khalid ibn Hayyan reported to us, from Ja‘far ibn Burqan, from Maymun ibn Mihran, he said: "In wealth, there are three qualities; if one escapes one, he is likely not to escape from the other two, and if he escapes from two, he is likely not to escape from the third. It is necessary that its source be lawful; so which of you is it whose earnings are sound and he has only entered into it what is lawful? If he is safe from this, then which of you is it who has fulfilled all the rights? If he is safe from this one, then it is necessary for him to be in his spending neither extravagant nor stingy."

15377 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn ‘Ammar reported to us, al-Walid reported to us, Ibn Lahi‘ah reported to us, from Yazid ibn Habib regarding His saying: "And those who, when they spend, are not extravagant and are not stingy, but are ever, between that, [justly] moderate," he said: "Those are the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him; they would not eat food desiring by it luxury, nor would they wear a garment desiring by it beauty; their hearts were as one heart."
