color from the offspring of that year, and his sheep were black and beautiful. Moses went to his staff, took it by its end, then placed it at the edge of the watering trough. Then he brought the sheep to it to drink, and Moses stood by the side of the trough, and not a single ewe departed from it without him striking its side. He said: It produced twins and triplets, and all of them were of specific colors except for one or two ewes. It had no fashush (ewes with wide teats/wide milk flow). Yahya said: Nor a danub. Safwan said: Nor a danub. Abu Zur'ah said: The correct term is tanub. Nor an 'azuz, nor a tha'ul, nor a kamshah that escapes the grasp of the palm. The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: 'If you were to request the Levant, you would find those very sheep, and they are the Samiri sheep.'
16868 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us: Safwan said: I heard al-Walid say: I asked Ibn Lahi'ah: 'What is the fashush?' He said: 'The one that leaks milk due to the width of the milk canal.' I said: 'What is the tanub?' He said: 'The one with a long udder that drags.' I said: 'What is the 'azuz?' He said: 'The one with a narrow milk canal.' I said: 'What is the tha'ul?' He said: 'The one that has no udder except like two teats.' I said: 'What is the kamshah?' He said: 'The one that escapes the palm, as the kamshah of the udder is small and the palm cannot grasp it.'
16869 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us: Shababah narrated to us: Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: 'Then when Moses had completed the term'—ten years, then he remained for ten more after that.
His saying, Exalted is He: 'And was traveling with his family.'
16870 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us: 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us: Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, who said: 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abbas said: 'When Moses completed the term, he set out with his family, and he lost his way, and it was in the winter.'
His saying: 'He perceived.'
16871 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us: al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us: Yazid narrated to us: Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: 'Then when Moses had completed the term and was traveling with his family, he perceived from the side of the Mount a fire,' meaning, he sensed a fire from the side of the Mount.
