16915 - My father narrated to us: Muhammad ibn 'Imran ibn Abi Layla narrated to us: Bishr ibn 'Umarah narrated to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: When Pharaoh said, "I have not known you to have a god other than me," Gabriel, peace be upon him, said: "O Lord, Your servant has transgressed, so permit me to destroy him." He (Allah) said: "O Gabriel, he is My servant and will not escape Me. He has a term which I have appointed for him; that term shall come." Then, when he said, "I am your most exalted lord," He (Allah) said: "O Gabriel, your prayer has been preceded (by My decree). So, O Haman, kindle for me a fire upon the clay."

16917 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us: Ibrahim ibn Musa narrated to us: Ibn Abi Za'idah informed us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "So, O Haman, kindle for me a fire upon the clay," he said: Upon the mud, so it becomes baked brick.

16918 - It was narrated to us regarding His saying: "So, O Haman, kindle for me a fire upon the clay," he said: It has reached me that the first to bake brick was Pharaoh.

His saying, Exalted is He: "Then make for me a tower."

16919 - Ahmad ibn Malik al-Susi narrated to us in Samarra: 'Abd al-Wahhab al-Khaffaf narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "So, O Haman, kindle for me a fire upon the clay," up to His saying: "of the liars," he said: And he was the first to bake brick, and the tower was constructed for him.

16920 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me: Asbagh ibn al-Faraj informed us: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd informed us regarding the saying of Allah, "So, O Haman, kindle for me a fire upon the clay," he said: The baked clay which he kindles a fire upon is from the clay with which they build structures. "Then make for me a tower," he said: The tower is the structure, so he ordered him to raise it.

His saying, Exalted is He: "That I may look at the God of Moses."

16921 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us: 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us: Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, he said: "O eminent ones, I have not known you to have a god other than me. So, O Haman, kindle for me a fire upon the clay. Then make for me a tower so I may climb into the sky and look at the God of Moses." When he built the tower for him, he climbed upon it and ordered his arrows, so he shot them toward the sky, and they were returned to him stained with blood. He said: "I have killed the God of Moses."
