His saying, the Exalted: "And you create a falsehood."

[The First Aspect]

17211 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih reported to us, Mu‘awiyah ibn Salih ibn ‘Ali ibn Abi Talhah narrated to me, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "And you create a falsehood," he says: You fabricate [it]. Similar to this was reported from Qatadah.

[The Second Aspect]

17212 - Muhammad ibn Sa‘d informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from ‘Atiyah, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "And you create a falsehood," he said: You speak a falsehood. Similar to this was reported from al-Suddi.

[The Third Aspect]

17213 - al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Muhammad ibn Shu‘ayb informed me, ‘Uthman ibn ‘Ata’ informed me, from his father regarding: "And you create a falsehood," he said: And you depict a falsehood.

17214 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih reported to us, Mu‘awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from ‘Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding His saying: "And you create a falsehood," he says: You fabricate a lie. Similar to this was reported from Mujahid, al-Hasan, and ‘Ikrimah.

[The Fourth Aspect]

17215 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid reported to us, Yazid reported to us, he said: I heard from Qatadah regarding His saying: "And you create a falsehood," i.e., you fabricate idols.

His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, those you worship besides Allah" [the verse]

17216 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn Khalid reported to us, Shu‘ayb ibn Ishaq reported to us, Sa‘id reported to us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Indeed, those you worship besides Allah," [meaning] this idol and this stone.

His saying, the Exalted: "So worship Him and be grateful to Him; to Him you will be returned"

17217 - And by way of him, from Qatadah, he said: It is a favor with which Allah has honored you, so be grateful to Allah for His blessings.

17218 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Adam al-Missisi reported to us, Zayd reported to us, from Musa ibn ‘Ubaydah, he said: I heard Muhammad ibn Ka‘b al-Qurazi while he was saying: Every deed done for the sake of Allah is gratitude for the blessings of Allah.
