of this surah: "Except those who do wrong among them," they said: "There is a god with Allah, and a son, and a partner, and that the hand of Allah is chained, and that Allah is poor." Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "They are the People of the Scripture."
His saying, the Almighty: "And say, 'We believe in what has been revealed to us and revealed to you, and our God and your God is one'"
17364 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn 'Umar narrated to us, 'Ali ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Yahya, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The People of the Scripture used to read the Torah and explain it in Arabic to the people of Islam. So the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Do not believe the People of the Scripture, and do not deny them, but say: 'We believe in what has been revealed to us and revealed to you, and our God and your God is one, and we are Muslims (those who submit) to Him.'"
17365 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Usamah narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, Sa'd ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to us, who said: Some people from the Jews used to speak to some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. This reached the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he said: "Do not believe them and do not deny them; say: 'We believe in it, and all of it is from our Lord.'"
His saying, the Almighty: "And we are Muslims to Him"
17366 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Safwan narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to us, Zuhayr ibn Muhammad narrated to us, regarding His saying: "Muslimun," he says: "Sincere."
His saying, the Almighty: "And thus We have revealed to you the Book"
17367 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Yahya al-Himmani narrated to us, from Abu Bakr al-Hudhali, from al-Hasan, who said: "The Book" is the Qur'an.
His saying, the Almighty: "Those to whom We have given the Book believe in it, and of these [people] are those who believe in it"
17368 - al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar informed us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "We have given them the Book," he said: "The Jews and the Christians."
His saying, the Almighty: "And none rejects Our verses except the disbelievers"
17369 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, who said:

هَذِهِ السُّورَةِ: إِلا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْهُمْ قَالُوا: مع الله إله، وولدا وشريكا ويد الله مغلولة وإن الله فقيرا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم: هُمْ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَقُولُوا آمَنَّا بِالَّذِي أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَأُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَإِلَهُنَا وَإِلَهُكُمْ واحد
١٧٣٦٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ يَحْيَى..، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ يَقْرَءُونَ التَّوْرَاةَ فَيُفَسِّرُونَهَا بِالْعَرَبِيَّةِ لأَهْلِ الإِسْلامِ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لَا تُصَدِّقُوا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ وَلا تُكَذِّبُوهُمْ، وَقُولُوا آمَنَّا بِالَّذِي أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَأُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَإِلَهُنَا وَإِلَهُكُمْ وَاحِدٌ وَنَحْنُ لَهُ مُسْلِمُونَ
١٧٣٦٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، ثنا سَعْدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ قَالَ: كَانَ نَاسٌ مِنْ يَهُودَ يُحَدِّثُونَ نَاسًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: (لَا تُصَدِّقُوهُمْ) «١» وَلا تُكَذِّبُوهُمْ، قُولُوا آمَنَّا بِهِ كُلٌّ مِنْ، عِنْدِ رَبِّنَا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَنَحْنُ لَهُ مُسْلِمُونَ
١٧٣٦٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا صَفْوَانُ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ، ثنا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ: مُسْلِمُونَ يَقُولُ: مُخْلِصُونَ.
قَوْلُه تَعَالَى: وَكَذَلِكَ أَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابُ
١٧٣٦٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ، ثنا أَبُو يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْهُذَلِيِّ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ: الْكِتَابَ الْقُرْآنَ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَالَّذِينَ آتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ وَمِنْ هَؤُلاءِ مَنْ يؤمن به
١٧٣٦٨ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنْبَأَ مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ آتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ الْيَهُودُ وَالنَّصَارَى.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِآيَاتِنَا إِلا الْكَافِرُونَ
١٧٣٦٩ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ قال:
