الترجمة · EN

His saying, the Exalted: "They know what is apparent of the worldly life."

17463 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): "They know what is apparent of the worldly life," meaning their livelihoods: when to plant, when to sow, and when to harvest.

17464 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): "They know what is apparent of the worldly life," they know the development of the world, while they are ignorant regarding the affair of the Hereafter.

17465 - From Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "They know what is apparent of the worldly life," he said: They know its trade, its crafts, and its selling.

17466 - From Ikrimah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "They know what is apparent of the worldly life," he said: Their livelihoods and what benefits them.

17467 - From al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the verse, he said: A person's expertise in his worldly affairs might reach such a point that he can balance a dirham on his fingernail and tell you its exact weight, yet he does not know how to pray.

[His saying, the Exalted: "And they have tilled the earth"]

17468 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "And they have tilled the earth," he said: They plowed the land.

17469 - From al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "And they have tilled the earth," he says: Its gardens, its rivers, and its crops, "and have developed it more than they developed it," he says: They lived in it longer than you lived in it.

[His saying, the Exalted: "Then was the end of those who did evil"]

17470 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "Then was the end of those who did evil the worst," he said: Those who disbelieved, their recompense is the Fire.

[His saying, the Exalted: "will be in despair"]

17471 - From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding His saying: "will be in despair," he said: They will despair.

17472 - From Mujahid (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding His saying: "will be in despair," he said: They will be distressed.
