And among them (1):

Do not sit at the door of one Who refuses you entry to his house,

And says: 'My needs to him Are hindered, if I do not accommodate him.'

Leave him and aim for their Lord, He will be fulfilled while the master of the house is reluctant.

And among them (2):

After the whiteness of gray hair, shall I build a dwelling Other than the grave? I would be a fool if I did so.

My gray hair tells me that I am dying Soon, and it laments me to myself, and it is truthful.

My life wears out every day and night, Can I mend that which is wearing out?

It is as if I am, with my body, stretched out on my bier, While one is silent or a mourner is burning with grief.

If they are asked about me, they answer and wail, And their tears pour down: 'This is al-Muwaffaq.'

And I am hidden in a narrow fissure of the earth, And placed in a niche where the soil is pressing down.

My closest friend shovels the soil over me, And the one who is most compassionate toward me surrenders me to the dust.

So, O my Lord, be a companion to me on the day of my loneliness, For I am a believer in what You have sent down.

And it does not harm me that I am journeying toward Allah, For He who is from among my family is more kind and more gentle.

Al-Muwaffaq married his cousin, Maryam bint Abi Bakr ibn Abd Allah ibn Sa'd al-Maqdisi, and was blessed with Abu al-Majd 'Isa, Abu al-Fadl Muhammad, Abu al-'Izz Yahya, Safiyyah, and Fatimah. His three sons died during his lifetime, and no offspring survived from al-Muwaffaq except for 'Isa, who left behind two righteous sons, then they died and his lineage ceased. Later, al-Muwaffaq took a concubine, then another, and then he married 'Izziyyah, who died before him.

His death occurred on Saturday, the day of Eid al-Fitr, in the year 620 AH. He was buried the following day on Mount Qasiyun, behind the al-Muzaffari Mosque, in their famous graveyard, and Salah al-Din eulogized him.
