20 - Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Asakir ibn al-Murahhab al-Bata'ihi, the blind, the reciter (muqri'). He took a leading position in teaching recitation and mastered the craft. He passed away in the year 572 AH (3). Al-Muwaffaq recited to him in Baghdad, in the reading (harf) of Nafi' (4).

21 - Abu Muhammad al-Mubarak ibn Ali al-Baghdadi al-Hanbali, the traditionist, the memorizer (hafiz), who resided in Mecca, and was the Imam of the Hanbalis at the Sacred Mosque (al-Haram). He passed away in the year 575 AH (5). He heard from him in Mecca (6).

22 - Abu Talib al-Mubarak ibn Ali ibn Muhammad, Ibn Khudayr, the Baghdadi, the traditionist, the truthful, the transmitter of beneficial knowledge (mufid), who passed away in the year 562 AH (7). He heard from him in Baghdad (8).

23 - Abu al-Makarim al-Mubarak ibn Muhammad ibn al-Mu'ammar al-Badara'i al-Baghdadi, the righteous, the very truthful, who passed away in the year 567 AH (9). He heard from him in Baghdad (10). And he said of him: 'He was a righteous, weak shaykh; most of his time he was lying on his back, and he used to ask us about praying while sitting due to his incapacity.'
