And the Emigrants (Muhajirun), they did not have enough spare time to wash it! The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) has commanded dyeing gray hair, so whoever is not upon what the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was upon, he is not (105) of the religion in anything. [This is supported by] the hadith of Abu Dharr, the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, the hadith of Abu Rimthah, (106) and the hadith of Umm Salamah. (107)

It is recommended to dye hair with henna and katam; (108) because of what al-Khallal and Ibn Majah reported.
