that preceded it. We selected as our base text a version compiled from two manuscripts that complement one another, and then we added two other manuscripts for the review process, denoting one of them with the letter "A" and the other with the letter "B." We also refer to other manuscripts when we encounter difficulty with what is in the previous copies, at which point we indicate this without using a specific symbol. Furthermore, we undertook the task of editing the text and vowelizing it in a manner that benefits the seeker and the student, God willing. We have also numbered the issues of Mukhtasar al-Khiraqi, connected the chapters of the commentary, and authenticated its hadiths, relying upon the Six Books, the Muwatta of Imam Malik, the Musnad of Imam Ahmad, the Sunan of al-Darimi, and then the Sunan of al-Daraqutni, as well as the Sunan al-Kubra of al-Bayhaqi in certain instances. We have documented its citations by referring to the sources from which Muwaffaq al-Din quoted, to the extent that they were available to us and God made it easy to access them, and by reviewing what was not indicated, insofar as we were guided to it. We have provided definitions for what required definition, and we ask Him—Glory be to Him—to bind our hearts, to sustain us with His aid so that we may continue the journey, and to conclude it with comprehensive technical indices that allow every student of knowledge to find what they are looking for and attain their goal. God speaks the truth, and He guides to the path.
