it is excused in the rest of them. If [a small amount] (2) is not excused in some of them, it is not excused in the rest of them. We have already mentioned a rationale that necessitates the distinction, if Allah the Almighty wills.

There is no disagreement among scholars known to us regarding the permissibility of performing wudu with water that has been mixed with a pure substance that did not alter it, except for what was narrated from Umm Hani regarding water in which bread had been soaked: that wudu should not be performed with it (3). Perhaps she meant water that was altered by it.

Ibn al-Mundhir narrated from al-Zuhri (4), regarding bread crusts (5) soaked in water (6), that if they altered its color or did not alter its color, wudu should not be performed with it.

That which is held by the majority is worthier, because it is pure and did not alter the quality of the water, so it is not prohibited, just like other pure substances if they do not alter it. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his wife performed ghusl from a bowl containing the remnants of dough, as recorded by al-Nasa'i (7), Ibn Majah (8), and al-Athram (9).
