123 - ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ṣāliḥ al-Azdī narrated to us, Abū Bakr ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated to us, from his father, he said: Ḥuṭayṭ was an oil seller, and he was a fair-skinned young man. He came to al-Ḥajjāj and said: “Are you not ashamed to lie when you are a ruler? You claim that it is not permissible to leave a sinner [unpunished], yet these cousins of yours around you are all sinners. Is that not so?”—he was saying this to those around him. So they all said: “Give us his blood!”
