138 - Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥusayn narrated to me, Khālid ibn Khidāsh narrated to me, Sālim ibn ʿUmar narrated to us, saying: Sālim al-Hilālī prayed over a funeral procession, then sat in the shade of the palace of Aws, and said to his companions: "Is not every death upon a bed uncertain?" Then he said: "Do you know what the condition of your sister al-Shajjāʿ was?" They said: "And what was her condition?" He said: "Ibn Ziyād cut off her hands and feet and gouged out her eyes, yet she did not even say 'Ouch!' So she was asked about that, and she said: "The terror of what lies ahead has distracted me from the pain of your iron.""
