153 - Muḥammad ibn Sahl al-Tamīmī narrated to me: ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us: Maʿmar informed us, from al-Zuhrī, who said: "Gangrene struck the leg of ʿUrwa ibn al-Zubayr and traveled up his shin. Al-Walīd ibn ʿAbd al-Malik sent for him and brought physicians to him. They said: 'There is no cure for it except that his leg be amputated.' He said: So his leg was amputated while he was sitting with al-Walīd, and his face did not even wince."
