93 - ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Jarīr al-Azdī narrated to me, saying: Mūsā ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Muḥammad al-Muḥāribī narrated to us, saying: ʿUqba ibn ʿAmmār narrated to us, on the authority of al-Mughīra ibn Ḥadhf, from Ribʿī ibn Ḥirāsh, that ʿUmar sent to a distant land and brought some elders of Banū ʿAbs, and said: "You fought the people in the Pre-Islamic Era, so which horses did you find to be the most patient?" They said: "The dark bay ones." He said: "And which camels did you find to be the most patient?" They said: "The sturdy reddish ones." He said: "And which women did you find to be the most patient?" They said: "No foreign woman ever endured among us." He said: "By what did you conquer people?" They said: "By patience; we never met a people but that we endured against them as long as they endured against us."
