106 - Abd Allah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal informed us, saying: I heard my father [Ahmad ibn Hanbal] say: Ibn al-Ashja'i gave us books from his father's books, so we copied from the book of al-Ashja'i, from Sufyan, from Wasil, from the daughter of al-Ma'rur, from al-Ma'rur, who said: I heard Umar say: "Whoever invites [others] to his [claim of] leadership without the consultation of the Muslims, then strike his neck."
١٠٦ - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ: أَعْطَانَا ابْنُ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ كُتُبًا مِنْ كُتُبِ أَبِيهِ، فَنَسَخْنَا مِنْ كِتَابِ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ وَاصِلٍ، عَنِ ابْنَةَ الْمَعْرُورِ، عَنِ الْمَعْرُورِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ، يَقُولُ: «مَنْ دَعَا إِلَى أَمْرِهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ مَشُورَةٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَاضْرِبُوا عُنُقَهُ»
