159 - Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Kahhal informed me that he said to Abu 'Abd Allah: 'Should a man who possesses property belonging to someone else fight in its defense?' He replied: 'Excuse me from answering that.' I asked: 'Is it not reported that "whoever is killed defending his neighbor is a martyr"?' He said: 'This is not authentic; the report is only: "whoever is killed defending his property."'
١٥٩ - أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْكَحَّالُ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: الرَّجُلُ يَكُونُ مَعَهُ الْمَالُ لِغَيْرِهِ فَيُقَاتِلُ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ: «أَعْفِنِي عَنِ الْجَوَابِ فِيهَا» ، قُلْتُ: أَلَيْسَ يُرْوَى: مَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ جَارِهِ فَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ؟ قَالَ: لَيْسَ يَصِحُّ هَذَا، وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ: «مَنْ قُتِلَ دُونَ مَالِهِ»
