The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, also said: "Whoever has his wealth targeted and fights for it, and is killed, is a martyr." He spoke thus regarding civil strife (fitna), and he spoke thus regarding one whose wealth is targeted. Therefore, in my view, fighting a robber is permissible except during civil strife. I asked: "What if someone is attacked inside his house during civil strife?" He said: "We do not fight during civil strife." I asked: "What if the women are targeted?" He said: "Indeed, the matter of women is grave."
