204 - I asked Ahmad ibn Yahya al-Nahwi, known as Tha'lab, about the statement: 'except that Allah aided me against him, so he submitted [fa-aslama].' [I asked:] Did the devil submit [aslama], or did the Prophet [receive protection/submit safely, i.e., yaslamu]? He said: 'I am safe from him [ana aslamu minhu].' He then said: 'The devil submitted [aslama].'
