He said: It has been narrated other than this that he said, "I am the first person for whom the earth will split open," and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: {You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind} [Al-Imran: 110]. He held that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) only intended humility by it.
قَالَ: قَدْ رُوِيَ غَيْرُ هَذَا، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «أَنَا أَوَّلُ مَنْ تَنْشَقُّ عَنْهُ الْأَرْضُ» ، وَقَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: {كُنْتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ} [آل عمران: ١١٠] وَذَهَبَ فِيهِ إِلَى أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّمَا أَرَادَ التَّوَاضُعَ بِهِ
