29 - Muhammad ibn al-Husayn informed me, saying: al-Fadl ibn Ziyad narrated to us, saying: Ahmad narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, saying: Safwan ibn 'Amr Abu 'Umar al-Saksaki narrated to me, saying: 'Amr ibn Qays al-Sakuni narrated to me, saying: 'Asim ibn Humayd narrated to me, saying: I heard Mu'adh ibn Jabal saying: "You will not see of this world anything but trial and tribulation, and the affair will only increase in trial and severity. You will not see from the leaders anything but harshness, and you will not see a matter that terrifies you and weighs heavily upon you except that there will follow it what is even more severe than it, the most numerous of leaders and the worst of leadership." Ahmad said: 'O Allah, we are satisfied.'"
٢٩ - أخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، قَالَ: ثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ، قَالَ: ثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو أَبُو عُمَرَ السَّكْسَكِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ قَيْسٍ السَّكُونِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَاصِمُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ، يَقُولُ: «إِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَرَوْا مِنَ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا بَلَاءً وَفِتْنَةً، وَلَنْ يَزْدَادَ الْأَمْرُ إِلَّا بَلَاءً وَشِدَّةً، وَلَنْ تَرَوْا مِنَ الْأَئِمَّةِ إِلَّا غِلْظَةً، وَلَنْ تَرَوْا أَمْرًا يَهُولُكُمْ وَيَشْتَدُّ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا حَضَرَهُ بَعْدَهُ مَا هُو أَشَدُّ مِنْهُ، أَكْثَرُ أَمِيرٍ وَشَرُّ تَأْمِيرٍ» . قَالَ أَحْمَدُ: اللَّهُمَّ رَضِينَا
