471 - Muhammad informed us, saying: Waki' reported to us, from Isra'il, from Abu Ishaq, from 'Amr ibn Hubayshi, who said: Al-Hasan ibn 'Ali gave a sermon to us after the death of 'Ali, may Allah have mercy upon him, and said: "Indeed, a man has departed from you yesterday whom those before him did not surpass in knowledge, and whom those after him shall not overtake. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, would give him the banner, and he would not return until Allah granted him victory. He did not leave behind any gold or silver, except for seven hundred dirhams from his stipend, which he was reserving to purchase a servant for his family."
٤٧١ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَ وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُبَيْشِيٍّ، قَالَ: خَطَبَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ بَعْدَ مَوْتِ عَلِيٍّ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ فَقَالَ: «لَقَدْ فَارَقَكُمْ بِالْأَمْسِ رَجُلٌ لَمْ يَسْبِقْهُ الْأَوَّلُونَ بِعِلْمٍ، وَلَمْ يُدْرِكْهُ الْآخَرُونَ، كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعْطِيهُ الرَّايَةَ، فَلَا يَنْصَرِفُ حَتَّى يَفْتَحَ اللَّهُ لَهُ، مَا تَرَكَ صَفْرَاءَ وَلَا بَيْضَاءَ، إِلَّا سَبْعَمِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ مِنْ عَطَائِهِ، كَانَ يَرْصُدُ بِهَا خَادِمًا لِأَهْلِهِ»
