478 - And al-Hasan ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab informed us, saying: Abu Bakr ibn Hammad al-Muqri narrated to us that he asked Abu 'Abd Allah regarding this issue, saying: "Do you distinguish between knowledge ('ilm) and testimony (shahadah)?" He replied: "No. When I say I know, then I testify. Allah says: '{Except for those who testified to the truth while they know} [Az-Zukhruf: 86]' and He also said: '{And we did not testify except to what we knew} [Yusuf: 81]'."
