498 - Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Matar and Zakariyya ibn Yahya informed us that Abu Talib narrated to them regarding this issue. Abu Abd Allah [Ahmad ibn Hanbal] said: "And I bear witness that Abu Lahab is in the Fire. They do not say that Abu Lahab is in the Fire; there is no Hadith regarding Abu Lahab that he is in the Fire, but it is in the Book [the Qur'an]. We bear witness that Abu Lahab and Abu Jahl are in the Fire."
٤٩٨ - وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَطَرٍ، وَزَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنَّ أَبَا طَالِبٍ حَدَّثَهُمْ فِي هَذِهِ الْمَسْأَلَةِ، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: «وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ أَبَا لَهَبٍ، فِي النَّارِ، هُمْ لَا يَقُولُونَ أَبُو لَهَبٍ فِي النَّارِ، لَيْسَ فِي أَبِي لَهَبٍ حَدِيثٌ أَنَّهُ فِي النَّارِ، هُوَ فِي الْكِتَابِ، وَنَحْنُ نَشْهَدُ أَنَّ أَبَا لَهَبٍ وَأَبَا جَهْلٍ فِي النَّارِ»
