499 - Muhammad ibn Abi Harun informed me, saying: Muthanna al-Anbari narrated to us that he asked Abu Abd Allah [Ahmad ibn Hanbal]: "Do you consider it appropriate to bear witness for others besides these [specific individuals] for whom the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, bore witness?" He replied: "Yes, everyone for whom the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, bore witness, it is to be testified for him." He cited as evidence the Hadith of Mu'adh, in which he said: "By Allah, I bear witness that Umar, my beloved, is among the people of Paradise."
٤٩٩ - وَأَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي هَارُونَ، قَالَ: ثَنَا مُثَنَّى الْأَنْبَارِيُّ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: وَهَلْ تَرَى أَنْ تَشْهَدَ لِغَيْرِ هَؤُلَاءِ مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ، كُلُّ مَنْ شَهِدَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُشْهَدُ لَهُ» ، وَاحْتَجَّ بِحَدِيثِ مُعَاذٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «وَاللَّهِ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ عُمَرَ حِبِّي أَنَّهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ»
