501 - Muhammad ibn Ali informed us, saying: Salih narrated to us that he said to his father: 'What about the statement of Sa'id ibn Zayd to Ibn Mas'ud: "The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was taken [in death], so where is he?" And the hadiths regarding him [Ibn Mas'ud] being among the ten [given the glad tidings of Paradise] are as you know?' He replied: 'This is reported from Abu Ubaydah that Ibn Mas'ud said this statement, but that which is reported from Sa'id ibn Zayd concerning the ten [who were promised Paradise] is more beloved to me.'"
٥٠١ - وَأَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا صَالِحٌ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ: قَوْلُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ لِابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ: قُبِضَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَيْنَ هُوَ؟ وَالْأَحَادِيثُ عَنْهُ فِي الْعَشَرَةِ مَا قَدْ عَلِمْتَ؟ قَالَ: «هَذَا يُرْوَى عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ أَنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ هَذَا الْقَوْلُ، وَالَّذِي يُرْوَى عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ فِي الْعَشَرَةِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ»
