511 - Zakariyya ibn Yahya informed me, saying: Abu Talib narrated to us, saying: Abu Abd Allah said: "It has reached me that Yahya used to hesitate/withhold [judgement] regarding the mention of Umar, and he used to take that position from Sufyan. This reached Abd al-Rahman, who disapproved of it concerning Yahya and said: 'Whom do you follow in this? This is not the view of the people of Basra.'"
٥١١ - أَخْبَرَنِي زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: ثَنَا أَبُو طَالِبٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: بَلَغَنِي أَنْ يَحْيَى كَانَ يَقِفُ عِنْدَ ذِكْرِ عُمَرَ، وَكَانَ يَأْخُذُهُ مِنْ سُفْيَانَ، فَبَلَغَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ، فَأَنْكَرَهُ عَلَى يَحْيَى، وَقَالَ: «بِمَنْ ⦗٣٧٣⦘ تَقْتَدِي فِي هَذَا؟ وَأَهْلُ الْبَصْرَةِ لَيْسَ هَذَا قَوْلَهُمْ»
