383 - 'Abd al-Malik informed me, saying: Shababa narrated to us, saying: al-Furat narrated to us, saying: I asked Maymun b. Mihran: Was Abu Bakr the first to embrace Islam or 'Ali? He replied: "By Allah, Abu Bakr believed in the Prophet at the time of Bahira the monk. [Disputes/negotiations] occurred between him and Khadija until she married him to her, and that was before 'Ali was born, may Allah have mercy on them both."
٣٨٣ - أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، قَالَ: ثَنَا شَبَابَةُ، قَالَ: ثَنَا الْفُرَاتُ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِمَيْمُونِ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ: أَبُو بَكْرٍ كَانَ أَوَّلَ إِسْلَامًا أَوْ عَلِيٌّ؟ فَقَالَ: «وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ آمَنَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِالنَّبِيِّ زَمَنَ بَحِيرَا الرَّاهِبِ، وَاخْتُلِفَ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ ⦗٣١٠⦘ خَدِيجَةَ حَتَّى أَنْكَحَهَا إِيَّاهُ، وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُولَدَ عَلِيٌّ رَحِمَهُمَا اللَّهُ»
