He said: And it is reported from al-Zuhri: 'Mu'awiyah's affair lasted for five years, and nothing was denied of him.' He said: So this aligns with the hadith of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace): 'Thirty-five.'
قَالَ: وَيُرْوَى، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ: «أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ كَانَ أَمْرُهُ خَمْسَ سِنِينَ، لَا يُنْكَرُ عَلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ» . قَالَ: فَكَانَ هَذَا عَلَى حَدِيثِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «خَمْسٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ»
