Abu al-Nadr al-'Ijli informed me that he asked Abu 'Abd Allah about the hadith of Jabir ibn Samurah: "There will be twelve amirs (commanders) after me," or he said: "caliphs," and he replied: "It has already come to pass."
أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو النَّضْرِ الْعِجْلِيُّ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ حَدِيثِ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ: " يَكُونُ بَعْدِي اثْنَا عَشَرَ أَمِيرًا، أَوْ قَالَ: خَلِيفَةً "، فَقَالَ: «قَدْ جَاءَ»
