760 - Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Sahrah informed us, saying: Abd al-Rahman ibn Umar al-Zuhri narrated to us, saying: Abu Urwa al-Zubayri narrated to us, saying: A man who disparaged [the Companions] was mentioned in the presence of Malik ibn Anas, so he recited: "In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in prayer], seeking bounty from Allah and [His] pleasure. Their mark is on their faces from the trace of prostration. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the sowers - so that Allah may enrage by them the disbelievers" [Al-Fath: 29]. Malik then said: "Whoever wakes up with rage in his heart against the Companions of Muhammad, peace be upon him, has been struck by [the implications of] this verse."
٧٦٠ - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَهْرَةَ، قَالَ: ثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الزُّهْرِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا أَبُو عُرْوَةَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، قَالَ: ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ رَجُلًا يَنْتَقِصُ، فَقَرَأَ: بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ {مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ أَشِدَّاءُ عَلَى الْكُفَّارِ رُحَمَاءُ بَيْنَهُمْ تُرَاهُمْ رُكَّعًا سُجَّدًا يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِنَ اللَّهِ وَرِضْوَانًا سِيمَاهُمْ فِي وُجُوهِهِمْ مِنْ أَثَرِ السُّجُودِ ذَلِكَ مَثَلُهُمْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَمَثَلُهُمْ فِي الْإِنْجِيلِ كَزَرْعٍ أَخْرَجَ شَطْأَهُ فَآزَرَهُ فَاسْتَغْلَظَ فَاسْتَوَى عَلَى سُوقِهِ يُعْجِبُ الزُّرَّاعَ لِيَغِيظَ بِهِمُ الْكُفَّارَ} [الفتح: ٢٩] ، فَقَالَ مَالِكٌ: «مَنْ أَصْبَحَ وَفِي قَلْبِهِ غَيْظٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَقَدْ أَصَابَتْهُ الْآيَةُ»
