404 - Muhammad ibn Abi Harun and Muhammad ibn Ja'far informed me that Abu al-Harith narrated to them, saying: Abu 'Abd Allah said: "And is anyone able to cast aspersions upon the caliphate of 'Uthman, given what has been narrated regarding his precedence [in Islam]?" And 'Abd Allah said: "We have appointed the highest of them, [the one who is] above [others]."
٤٠٤ - أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي هَارُونَ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا الْحَارِثِ حَدَّثَهُمْ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: " وَهَلْ يَقْدِرُ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يَطْعَنَ عَلَى خِلَافَةِ عُثْمَانَ، وَمَا رُوِيَتْ لَهُ مِنَ السَّوَابِقِ، وَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: «وَلَّيْنَا أَعْلَاهَا ذَا فَوْقٍ»
