785 - Yusuf ibn Abd Allah wrote to me, saying: Hasan ibn Ali ibn al-Hasan informed us that he asked Abu Abdullah [Ahmad ibn Hanbal] about a person of innovation: should one greet him? He said: "If he is a Jahmi, a Qadari, or a proselytizing Rafidi, then one should not perform the funeral prayer for him, nor should one offer him the greeting of peace."
٧٨٥ - كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ يُوسُفُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: ثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ صَاحِبِ بِدْعَةٍ، يُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْهِ؟ قَالَ: «إِذَا كَانَ جَهْمِيًّا، أَوْ قَدَرِيًّا، أَوْ رَافِضِيًّا دَاعِيَةً، فَلَا يُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِ، وَلَا يُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْهِ»
